Deep, the technology arm of Post, announced midday on Tuesday a strategic partnership with the French cloud computing company OVHcloud to market a sovereign cloud starting in 2025.

“This partnership is strategic in more ways than one: Deep’s Luxembourg customers will be able to host their sensitive and critical data in a sovereign cloud hosted in Deep’s data centres and benefit from the capabilities of OVHcloud’s solution, particularly in terms of the computing power needed to use artificial intelligence.” , a member of Deep’s management committee and in charge of cloud solutions, knows that he has just pulled off a major coup.

The strategic partnership with French cloud computing company OVHcloud aims to offer a sovereign cloud for the Luxembourg market, with marketing planned for 2025. It will be based on an integrated cloud platform (hardware and software) developed by OVHcloud which, in disconnected mode, will be hosted and operated autonomously by Deep in its own data centres located in Luxembourg.

The OVHcloud platform is based on a set of solutions based on open source standards, offered in disconnected mode in order to guarantee European sovereignty over the data hosted, but in time it will also host a specific software offering.

“We are delighted to put our expertise at the service of Deep’s project, by offering our unique ‘On-Prem Cloud Platform’ solution to meet the most strategic sovereignty challenges facing organisations in Luxembourg,” said Benjamin Revcolevschi, managing director of OVHcloud.

“This strategic partnership will enhance Deep’s multi-cloud offering to provide the Luxembourg market with even more diversified solutions tailored to the specific needs of local businesses,” added , deputy general manager of Post Luxembourg and member of Deep’s management committee, without explicitly stating that this would be in addition to the Luxconnect-Proximus-Google solution via an airlock to make it totally disconnected.

OVHcloud operates more than 450,000 servers in 43 data centres on four continents for 1.6m customers in more than 140 countries.
