Duncan Roberts was Tom Clarke’s guest on Ara City Radio on Monday morning Ara City Radio

Ara City Radio’s Monday morning slot featured Tom Clarke and Duncan Roberts talking about the staffing shortages faced by airlines and airports and how it may affect summer travel plans.

As Europe gears up for the summer holidays, Delano online editor-in-chief Duncan Roberts joined breakfast show host Tom Clarke on Ara City Radio to talk about the chaos currently being experienced at airports across the continent.

As airlines and airports struggle to get staffing back to pre-pandemic levels, passengers have long queues and even flight cancellations. The situation is not likely to improve soon, as recruiting staff is a problem and training also requires time.

. The airline blames “extraordinary absenteeism” and is currently recruiting about 15 crew members.

But passengers who face cancellations do have certain rights, according to the European Consumer Centre Luxembourg. European regulation provides for compensation of between €250 and €600 in addition to ticket reimbursement or alternative flight arrangements.

Duncan then picked three events that might interest listeners: Helado Negro at Rotondes on 15 June; the annual European Risk Management Conference at Luxexpo on 16 June: and the Kick Cancer Into Touch golf fundraising event in Canach on 18 June.

Finally, Duncan’s music choice for the week was Sharon van Etten’s pop-anthem Mistakes taken from her new album We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong.
