Gaining 3 seats, the greens managed to retain their four ministers: Félix Braz, François Bausch, Claude Turmes and Carole Dieschbourg while it remains to be seen who will occupy their seats in the new government. Josée Lorsché, Sam Tanson and Roberto Traversini held onto their seats while former TNS Ilres director Charles Margue was a newcomer, winning a seat in the centre.
Déi Gréng's former coalition partners fared less well. The party of current prime minister Xavier Bettel, the DP, lost 1 seat bringing it to 12. DP higher education minister Marc Hansen did not secure sufficient votes at this stage to take a seat in parliament and nor did party leader Eugène Berger. Frank Colabianchi, Joëlle Elvinger, Edy Mertens, Claude Lamberty and Gusty Graas were also a little too far down the list on Sunday evening. Bettel’s seat is safe, however.
The LSAP dropped from 13 seats to 10, with health minister Lydia Mutsch out of the new parliament for now, at least. Frank Arndt, Simone Asselborn-Bintz, Taina Bofferding, Tess Burton, Yves Cruchten, Claudia Dall’Agnol, Franz Fayot, Claude Haagen and Cécile Hemmen will also have to wait and see what happens in the new government before knowing if seats will be freed in the new parliament.

The CSV had most seats at 21, down from 23 in the last parliament, but still not enough to secure the 31 needed to secure the government. It welcomes the return of politics doyenne and former European Commission vice president Viviane Reding back in its ranks and a new face in Paul Galles, leader of the Young Caritas association in Luxembourg and winner of the 2016 European citizen prize.
Sylvie Andrich-Duval, Claudine Konsbruck, Martine Mergen and Laurent Zeimet will be in limbo until a decision is made over the new government as they failed to secure enough seats to immediately enter the new parliament.
The Pirate Partei gained its first 2 seats since the party was formed in 2009. They will be occupied by co-founder and party president Sven Clement and Marc Goergen. "We had some intensive months, but I had to admit it was really fun to plan and lead the election campaign, it's a top team. A big thank you to all our team From the Pirates!" Goergen tweeted in the early hours of Monday.
The ADR retained Gast Gibéryen, Fernand Kartheiser and Roy Reding and will be joined by new deputy Jeff Engelen. Déi Lénk retains Marc Baum and David Wagner.
