The club is driven by more than 140 volunteers, providing a fun environment for learning to code for 8 to 18-year-olds. The club’s weekly after-school clubs aimed at different levels are free of charge and held around the country.

“Ultimately, it is the contribution of our volunteers taking on honorary appointments and spending their leisure time mentoring kids and youth, while having fun along the way, that accounts for Code Club’s success,” the not-for-profit said in a press statement.

The celebration was a chance to plan the group’s activities in the coming months. Among them will be a large-scale “Coding Goûter”, offering a taster session for parents and children using block-based programme Scratch, coding and robotics workshops as well as afterwork meetups.

Code Club Luxembourg is part of a global network founded in 2012. Its aim is to help ensure every child in Luxembourg and the greater region is code literate.

It is currently seeking volunteers to help mentor children at weekends or even start a new code club in different neighbourhoods. No previous tech knowledge is required. Click here to find out more.
