It was notably in Luxembourg that BMW chose to unveil its new iX and i4 models, which will complete its fleet of electric vehicles from next November. Two cars that will "become the technological flagships of our brand for years to come,” according to Eddy Haesendonck, CEO and president of BMW Group Belux.

No official presentation of the two new cars had taken place prior to the 2 June event. "It is no coincidence that we chose Luxembourg for this event on the day of the official world premiere," explains Jeroen Lissens, BMW Belux communications director. "These two products are very important for the Luxembourg market." And this market is very important for BMW Belux, which has enjoyed great success here: 1,273 cars sold during the first three months of the year, i.e., 18.2% more than over the same period a year earlier. With a 10.2% market share, BMW is the leader in the premium segment.

The German brand also aims to continue to green its fleet (currently four all-electric vehicles and 23 plug-in hybrids), but also to anticipate future tax changes, as is the case in Belgium, where tax exemption will soon be optimal on company vehicles only.

The specialised press therefore had an appointment in Kirchberg to discover the two new products which will be available from November.

The i4 is part of the large 4-door coupe segment, identical to BMW's 3 and 4 Series. "The ideal electric car for everyday use," the specialists say. With 500 horsepower, its range is 580km. For a well-equipped vehicle (which is already basic with 40 driving aids), expect a minimum budget of around €60,000.

The iX is already described as a revolution in the range, the perfect combination of technology and driving pleasure. Its announced range is 600km, and BMW highlights a very short battery recharge time. With an ultra-modern design and interior luxury, this is a sports activity vehicle which, with a range of options, runs upward of €100,000.
