In 2016, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (Adia) proposed constructing a shopping centre in the vacant area just off the route d’Arlon.
The Luxembourg Times, however, has revealed that this project was dropped to build luxury homes instead.
The project, which was finalised in April this year, will see the construction of housing to be rented out and remain in the ownership of Adia. Businesses and luxury shops are, reportedly, planned for the ground floor, however, the shopping centre idea has been abandoned.
The Place de l'Etoile is a key location because it is a gateway to Luxembourg for people travelling from the direction of Belgium. The arrival of the tram is also eagerly awaited and could spur property prices in the neighborhood. But very frequent traffic jams at rush hour could be a problem. According to the Luxembourg Times, Adia considered constructing a tunnel for vehicles and the tram, that would pass under the site.
Adia is already present on the Royal-Hamilius project, this time building offices in addition to shops and houses, which it will sell.
