The event, at the Casino 2000 in Mondorf, has been one of the chief fund-raisers for the charity. Femmes Développement helps widows and orphans in Rwanda, and attracts a large number of generous guests.

The charity was established by Luxembourg-based businesswoman Luisella Moreschi, who serves as its vice-president, after a meeting with Rwandan priest Abbé Pierre, who is the association’s president. They both addressed guests on Thursday to explain the charity’s latest work.

MC Gabriel Boisante kept the evening flowing in his inimitable style, while further entertainment was provided by the Suprema Trio and the Li Marteling school of dance.

A whole host of luxury tombola prizes were up for grabs--courtesy of the tireless efforts of charity volunteer Magaly Carroll.
