The Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft, the first agro-food organisation recognised as an official certifier for all of Europe, evaluated around 260 waters annually to determine the grades, gold being highest.

"It is a great pride for the National Brewery to see Lodyss rewarded with such a prestigious award which recognises the very high level of quality of this water well beyond its borders," Brasserie Nationale director Mathias Lentz said in a Tuesday press announcement.

The water, which the Brasserie Nationale states is “0 nitrate certified [and] low in sodium and minerals” and was given the stamp of approval by the French health ministry to be suitable for infant nutrition.

Earlier this year, Brasserie Nationale had hopes for Lodyss to help counter the results of 2020, dubbed a “catastrophic year” by Georges Lentz, managing director of the Luxembourg family business, which saw an 18% redution in the company’s overall turnover.
