The European Commission report on quality of life in European cities, published on Tuesday, polled over 58,000 people in 83 cities. In Luxembourg, 94.2% of respondents said the Luxembourg capital was a good place to live in general, compared to the report average of 91%, and 95% said they were satisfied living there.

Of all the cities compared, Zurich came out top with 100% and Istanbul had the lowest score with 54%. Luxembourg scored second-highest, behind Glasgow, for cities that are considered good for gay and lesbian people to live.

Respondents also rated it a good place for elderly people to live (94%), for cultural facilities (91%), cleanliness (94%) and public spaces (90%).

The only segment it scored badly on was finding reasonably priced accommodation. With only 12% of respondents saying it was easy to find good housing at a reasonable price, Luxembourg ranked among the 10 lowest scoring cities behind Geneva, Munich and Hamburg.
