Luxembourg’s 11% surge was the largest increase between the fourth quarter of 2018 and fourth quarter of 2019 in the EU, according to Eurostat.

The EU’s statistics agency said that the next highest gains were recorded in Slovakia (+10.9%) and Croatia (+10.0%), “while prices only fell in Cyprus (-4.8%).”

Between the first quarter of 2007 and fourth quarter of 2019, property prices in Luxembourg were up by 84.8%, a tad higher than Sweden’s 80.6% rise. But the biggest hike was Austria’s 88.4%, Eurostat said. During the same period, home prices dropped the most in Greece (-35.6%), Romania (-26.0%) and Ireland (-16.9%).

Also during the same periods, rents rose by a bit more than 20% in Luxembourg.
