Airinc’s Global 150 Cities Index ranks locations around the world based on salaries, cost and quality of life, taxes, social benefits, safety and other criteria.

Zurich, Geneva and Luxembourg made up the top three cities overall in the latest edition of the ranking, released earlier this month, with Munich and Calgary, Canada, making up the top five. But only Zurich was also among the top destinations in terms of lifestyle, placing second.

Geneva dropped to 14th place in this category and Luxembourg to 21st, trailing behind other European cities like Prague (1), Vienna (3), Munich (6), Berlin (7), Dublin (10), Copenhagen (11), London (12), Helsinki (13), Amsterdam (19) and Paris (20).

The grand duchy placed 15th in the financial ranking of the 150 selected cities, with top scorers including cities in Bahrain, the Cayman Islands, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

Luxembourg was the only EU city in the top 20 of the index’s financial category, followed by Munich in 30th position.

The ranking aims to establish how appealing the locations are to live in with Airinc specialising in expat compensation and mobility issues.
