The announcement was made during the union’s ordinary national congress, held 6-7 December at the Hémicycle on the Kirchberg plateau.
According to our colleagues at Paperjam, the occasion also marks the first time a woman takes on the presidency for the OGBL.
In her congress address, Back said she recognised the confidence the electors had taken in her, adding: “I will, during my mandate, do everything in our power to ensure and fulfill the order you have now handed me.”
She added: “Together, we can all face the challenges of the future. Together, we will continue to advance the OGBL. In the interest of all working people, pensioners and their families.”
