Launched in 2008, the Rockhal’s Sonic Visions festival has always delivered on its promise to promote the very best upcoming artists. It is an eclectic mix, but one that in 2015 saw acts such as Kate Tempest and Courtney Barnett play small intimate shows before hitting the big time.

Festival goers can also enjoy a street food market and party late into the night. What’s more the festival site this year features interactive light installations reminiscent of iconic 80s games like Pacman, Tetris and Donkey Kong.

The line-up this year includes local singer-songwriters C’est Karma, who recently supported The Homesick at de Gudde Wëllen, and Bartelby Delicate, the solo project of Seed Top Tree’s Georges Goerens. Other local artists on the bill include young rapper Maz and electro-pop trio Say Yes Dog.

The festival has a French-language flavor this year with headliners rising R&B star Eddy de Pretto and Brussels based pop star Angèle alongside rappers Moha La Squale and Kikesa.

Two to watch

Delano’s top picks of the festival include wonderfully eclectic British duo Maribou State, whose latest album “Kingdoms in Colour” was described by Exclaim as a “veritable music buffet, filled with savoury melodies and soundscapes.” The other act to watch out for is German experimental ensemble Moglebaum, whose mix of instrumental and electronic soundscapes is topped off beautifully by soulful vocals.

Sonic Visions is at Rockhal on 16 & 17 November. Full line up, info and tickets here.
