It wouldn’t feel like a normal day at Delano without at least one article on Brexit and how negotiations are faring. Well, an article published on Reuters on 23 May 2018 reported on a poll on how the UK is handling negotiations on its departure from the EU and, unsurprisingly, “poorly” was the unanimous response from all the economist questioned.
According to the article, the government gets a massive “thumbs down” on its negotiation skills, with the economists polled believing there is still a, “one-in-five chance of a disorderly Brexit.”
“…May has struggled to unite her cabinet and major differences remain over the process between London and Brussels,” the article states.
Indeed, it goes on to cite Peter Dixon at Commerzbank as saying, “The negotiations have been a shambles, primarily because the government opted to implement a strategy which was not on the ballot paper and gave insufficient thought about how to implement it prior to triggering Article 50 (to launch the Brexit process).”
Don’t forget that Delano plans further Brexit insight in its June print edition and also the next Delano Live, which will take place on Thursday 7 June 2018.
