The programme, taught in four languages, was created in collaboration with the Conservatoire de Musique, which will be in charge of music and instrumental education.

Students specialise in instrumental or vocal training, musical education or an introduction to music during the first semester. They must also complete a semester abroad.

“This bachelor completes a line-up of bachelor and lifelong learning degrees for teachers,” said Prof. Catherine Léglu, vice-rector for academic affairs at the university.

Education and higher education minister Claude Meisch (DP) added: “I am particularly glad that the University of Luxembourg organises this new study programme in collaboration with the country's three music academies, to provide a national response to the needs of the music education sector. Music education is an important element of our educational landscape and we want to continue to develop this offer to make musical culture accessible to as many children and young people as possible.”

Registration to start the bachelor in September 2021 is open until June 2021.
