We will stay what we are! That’s Luxembourg’s motto and once you realise everything the country has to offer newcomers, you’ll want it to stay the same, too.

1 - Moving to Luxembourg is easy!

The country is very open to newcomers and you’ll find it easy to make a home there. You can easily set up a bank account before you move to the country, for instance – something that can be unnecessarily complicated in less cosmopolitan nations.

2 – Luxembourg is the safest place on Earth

Luxembourg is the safest country in the world and its capital is the safest city. The country enjoys low crime levels, effective law enforcement, a free press and relatively few limitations on personal freedoms. There’s also very little corruption – far less than in France or Portugal, for instance – and satisfaction levels are high.

3 – Luxembourg welcomes foreigners

The Grand Duchy has a cosmopolitan culture and is very welcoming to expats.  Almost half of Luxembourg’s population have moved to the country, and there are 179 different nationalities represented in the country as a whole. 42% of the population come from within Europe, with Portuguese and French citizens accounting for more than half of all foreign-born Europeans.

4 – Luxembourgers speak your language

As well as Luxembourgish, children in the Grand Duchy are taught French, German and English, so providing you speak one of those languages you should be able to get by in Luxembourg. French is the main language spoken in the workplace, while English is preferred in occupations requiring a high-level of education.

5 – Luxembourg companies pay great wages

Luxembourg is the second richest country in the world by GDP per capita and it has a strong, stable economy whose growth has outstripped its Eurozone neighbours in recent years. It’s a situation that is ripe for job creation and to make things even better, wages in Luxembourg are among the highest in the world. The minimum wage in Luxembourg is the highest in Europe and the country tops OECD’s worldwide chart for the average annual income, too.

6 – Life is great in Luxembourg

Residents of Luxembourg enjoy a rich cultural life. The Old Quarters and Fortifications of Luxembourg City have been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1994 and the capital has been selected twice as the European Capital of Culture. The architecture is a wonderful juxtaposition of old and new, with tiny, medieval buildings in the city centre and glass skyscrapers in the financial district. The Grand Duchy has 10 Michelin-Star restaurants and an abundance of art galleries and museums. There are festivals, concerts and theatre, plus castles, lush green countryside and huge nature parks.
