Delhaize Luxembourg on Friday 20 September announced the acquisition of the two Alima shops located at the Bourse (in the Ville-Haute near Hamilius) and Belair. The two chains took the opportunity to ensure that the 37 employees of the outlets concerned would be taken on, while guaranteeing that their seniority and benefits would be maintained.
“The two shops will benefit from Delhaize’s expertise and synergies, while maintaining their commitment to a high-quality, diversified offering tailored to the expectations of local customers,” the statement said. The transition is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. The Bourse shop will be taken over by an integrated operator, while the Belair store will be an affiliate.
“We are proud of the work accomplished by our teams and are pleased that this transition is taking place in line with the values we hold dear. Delhaize Luxembourg, with its vision and local commitment, is the ideal partner to continue the history of our shops,” said Alima manager Romy Hansen.
With these acquisitions, the Delhaize Group increases its network to 62 shops in Luxembourg. “This acquisition allows us to strengthen our presence in Luxembourg and to welcome new talent to our teams. We are delighted to be able to continue serving customers in the Bourse and Belair districts, while preserving the spirit of proximity that is so dear to Alima,” concluded Marine Carde, head of expansion at Delhaize Luxembourg.
