Yvon Boutry, security team leader at Proximus NXT, shares his views on the sector’s future prospects as part of the “Cybersecurity Resilience in a Complex World” roundtable organised by the Paperjam Club on Tuesday 29 April 2025 at Proximus House.

Proximus has always been a key player in cybersecurity. What are the main changes you have observed in cyber threats and digital resilience over the past few years, and how is Proximus adapting its strategies to stay at the forefront?

: The threats have significantly evolved in recent years, and digital resilience has become a major issue for companies. We are now facing very complex challenges where humans need help from AI and automation, as attack vectors are increasingly numerous, and the amount of data to be controlled is growing. This complexity forces Proximus NXT to evolve by providing a more comprehensive service where teams work together to offer end-to-end support to our clients.

Cybersecurity regulations are becoming increasingly stringent. How does Proximus help its clients navigate this complex regulatory landscape while maintaining the security and performance of their systems?

We are talking here about the Dora regulation and the Nis2 directive, which require companies to strengthen cybersecurity in the essential sectors of the European Union. Proximus supports companies by offering guidance during the steps of compliance and the implementation of solutions. We have also launched an initiative in partnership with Cisco to conduct Nis2 gap analyses in certain Luxembourg companies to help them assess their maturity level and the effort required to comply with the directive.

Proximus NXT, as a subsidiary dedicated to technological innovation, plays a key role in developing cybersecurity solutions. How do you anticipate the evolution of cybersecurity in an increasingly complex world, and what role will Proximus NXT play in this transformation?

We are now in a world where digitalisation is an essential step for every company. This dependence, along with the complexity of environments with multiple attack vectors--such as cloud, on-premise, remote access and others--makes every company a target for cyberattacks. These attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and the arrival of AI only increases this complexity. Proximus NXT is recognised for the quality of its support and engineering. We have been preparing for this technological shift for several years by offering innovative solutions and also by being part of our companies' strategies to better protect them.
