Luxembourg alternative investment funds recorded €185m of net inflows in October 2023, said the most recent monthly factsheet published by the European Fund and Asset Management Association. Ucits in Luxembourg saw €10.6bn in net outflows during the same month.

The European Fund and Asset Management Association (Efama) on 20 December published its latest monthly investment fund industry fact sheet, which includes .

After , Luxembourg alternative investment funds (AIFs) saw €185m of net inflows in October. Undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities (Ucits) domiciled in the grand duchy saw €10.569bn in outflows in October (compared to €21.322bn of outflows in September).

Looking at a few other European countries included in Efama’s statistical release, Ireland recorded €9.866bn of net inflows for Ucits and €2.683bn of outflows in October. Germany saw outflows of €177m for Ucits and €1.569bn of inflows for AIFs; Denmark reported inflows for both Ucits (€307m) and AIFs (€2.512bn); and France saw €8.423bn of inflows for Ucits and €952m of outflows for AIFs.

European AIFs overall recorded €1.12bn of net outflows in October (compared to €11bn of net outflows in September), while Ucits funds reported net inflows of €2.47bn (compared to net outflows of €2.39bn in September), noted Efama.

However, “net outflows from long-term Ucits reached levels not seen over the past twelve months, as Hamas’ terrorist attack and Israel’s response generated new uncertainties and concerns for investors,” commented Bernard Delbecque, senior director for economics and research at Efama in the industry association’s press release.

Luxembourg AIF assets at €960bn

In October 2023, Luxembourg’s net AIF assets stood at €960bn (down from €966.3bn in September). With total net assets in European AIFs standing at €7,140bn, this gives Luxembourg 13.45% of the marketshare.

Ucits net assets in the grand duchy dropped a bit to €4,047.9bn (from €4,151.6bn in September).

Total net assets of Ucits and AIFs decreased by 1.8% in October, reaching €19,397bn, said Efama’s press release.
