To support companies affected by higher energy prices caused by Russia’s war in Ukraine, the government of Luxembourg has launched an online form where businesses can apply for aid for energy costs.

The aid scheme targets medium-sized energy-consuming businesses whose energy costs represent 2% of their turnover for the month that they’re applying for aid. It will cover the period from October 2022 to June 2023.

The monthly additional costs of natural gas and electricity that exceed 80% of the average costs paid by the company during from January to December 2021 are eligible for aid. Companies can apply through MyGuichet by using a LuxTrust product or an electronic ID card.

Applications need to respect certain deadlines. They must be submitted by 31 March 2023 for the last three months of 2022, and by 30 September 2023 for the first six months of 2023.

There are some restrictions to this particular scheme. For example, it cannot be combined with the during the same month.

“The aid scheme for medium-sized energy-consuming companies makes it possible to guarantee effective and targeted support for small and medium-sized businesses,” said (DP), minister for SMEs. It will also support “the stability and development of the SME sector.”

This newest scheme follows the aid programme for companies severely affected by the rise in energy prices put in place by the law of 15 July 2022 and an purchased between 1 and 15 August 2022.
