Claude Turmes and Franz Fayot will propose to the council of ministers a new aid to help dealers invest in charging stations for electric cars.

Energy minister Claude Turmes (déi gréng) announced on RTL his intention to propose a €40m package to support dealers in investing in recharging infrastructure, together with the Minister for the economy, Franz Fayot (LSAP),

This aid should have a budget for dealers, but also for service stations and supermarkets.

Although no official decision has yet been taken by the government, the Federation of Automotive Distributors of Mobility (Fedamo) has already welcomed the news, while insisting on the retroactivity of such aid. "As Fedamo, we welcome this announcement. Our members are already facing huge investments, especially in the network infrastructure. It is therefore absolutely necessary that the aid be granted retroactively, for installations already completed,” underlines Philippe Mersch, president of Fedamo.

"Several dealerships have already made sometimes costly investments to install charging stations, which amount to thousands of euros. It is often the car brands that push dealers to invest in recharging infrastructures. It is therefore very important to see this aid have a retroactive effect,” underlined Christian Reuter, deputy secretary general of the Federation of craftsmen.
