Enovos, an electricity provider and distributor in Luxembourg, has launched naturstroum drive, a time-of-use tariff designed to optimise home electric vehicle (EV) charging by offering four distinct pricing periods. This tariff encourages consumers to shift their energy consumption to cheaper times, with the goal of reducing costs for EV owners and household energy consumption.
The lowest rates, 25% below the base tariff, will be available from midnight to 6am and from 12pm to 5pm on weekends. Standard base rates will apply from 6am to 5pm on weekdays, while the highest rates, 6% above the base tariff, will be in effect from 5pm to midnight, during the higher-demand hours.
Enovos stated that the new tariff is tailored primarily for EV owners who charge at home. In addition, customers can reduce costs by scheduling high-energy appliances, such as dishwashers and washing machines, during the discounted periods. The company also highlighted the availability of digital tools like the MyEnovos app, which allows users to monitor their hourly electricity consumption.
Naturstroum drive will be available from March 2025 for residential low-voltage customers with a smart meter, supplied by Enovos, Leo, NordEnergie or Steinergy.
Enovos CEO Erik von Scholz told Paperjam that the naturstroum drive tariff is designed to help customers reduce electricity costs by charging their electric vehicles during off-peak hours. He explained that by shifting consumption to periods of lower demand, users can ease pressure on the grid while saving money, all without significantly changing their daily routines.
In general, electricity prices in Luxembourg are to rise by an average of 30% in 2025 due to the partial removal of introduced in late 2022.
