The survey, part of an evaluation process of the 2022 European capital of culture, polled for the most part people at the events, while a smaller number of responses came from Esch2022’s ticketing office.
Almost 80% of respondents said they were satisfied or totally satisfied, with 15% saying they were neither and just 6% stated they were disappointed. The European capital of culture appears to be a success according to the survey in terms of putting Luxembourg’s southern communes and another eight municipalities in France on the map.
The Ilres survey indicates that 89% of respondents were very satisfied with the quality of the experience and 87% stated they were pleased with the cultural quality of the events. Esch2022’s programme left 87% of participants in the survey satisfied or very satisfied. The events’ signposting showed the lowest score: 75% satisfaction and 21% disappointment.
More than nine out of ten, 93%, agreed with the sentence that “the event resulted in them having a good time”. The portion of people agreeing with that sentiment was higher among non-Luxembourg residents (68% completely agreed and 26% agreed) than among those residing in the grand duchy (54% completely agreed and 39% agreed).
Eight out of ten respondents stated they would attend other events organised by Esch2022 and nine out of ten would recommend the event they had attended to a colleague or friend.
Esch2022 capital of culture was launched on 26 February with . The programme features a total of 2,000 events throughout the year.
