Estelle Castres has been appointed director for France, Belgium and Luxembourg (FraBeLux) at BlackRock and will take up her position in mid-May. She will join the executive committees of the EMEA and continental Europe markets.

Castres has 30 years of experience in various senior positions in major European asset management companies and in the banking sector. Previously, she was a director at Natixis (France, Belux, Geneva, Monaco and Israel), and global head of institutional and major insurance clients at Natixis Investment Managers where she worked since 2014.

Prior to Natixis, Castres worked successively at Axa Investment Managers for over six years, at Crédit Agricole Asset Management (now Amundi) and at Dresdner Kleinwort where she started as a trader.

She succeeds Stéphane Lapiquonne, who was appointed to the newly created position of head of sustainability for the EMEA region in July last year.

Jean-Francois Cirelli, president of BlackRock FraBeLux, said: “Estelle’s expertise and knowledge of the asset management industry will help us to further develop our teams and our local platform. I look forward, along with all our colleagues, to welcoming her and strengthening our presence in key markets for BlackRock.”

BlackRock has been operating in Luxembourg since 2004. The group employs more than 280 people in FraBeLux and managed €78bn of assets there as of December 2021.
