Nineteen Luxembourg students will be able to apply for a two-year long training opportunity with the European Space Agency (ESA), with candidacies open until 24 July.

The offer is part of the Luxembourg Young Graduate Training programme, supported by the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), and sets up internships in one of the ESA’s bases for students from the grand duchy. Multicultural and dynamic, the positions offer students a first work experience in the space domain and covers topics such as AI, robotics, cybersecurity and data analysis, the LSA says.

Students who wish for one of the positions--in Germany, Italy or the Netherlands for instance--need to hold a Luxembourg passport or a permanent resident permit for the grand duchy and must have obtained their Masters degree in the last two years. Students who are finishing their master’s degree may also apply but will only be accepted if they successfully complete their studies before the start of the internship. Applications end on 24 July. Interviews will run from 15 August to 15 September.

Luxembourg has strongly invested in the space sector in recent years. for example, the country still had 6 astronauts--the second highest number of participants per capita--in the race for an astronaut position opening at the ESA.
