Economy minister Franz Fayot marked day two of Luxembourg’s economic mission in Dubai by visiting the Luxembourg stand at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC).

The IAC, held in the United Arab Emirates and for the first time in a Middle Eastern country, is the main annual meeting of the global space ecosystem. Luxembourg was present for the third consecutive year with its national pavilion.

Fayot visited the Thales Alenia Space stand and met its CEO Hervé Derrey who announced the opening of a digital centre in Luxembourg focused on the development of digital solutions in the field of telecommunications and space observation.

The Luxembourg stand featured GomSpace Luxembourg, Ispace Europe, LIST, Maana Electric, OffWorld Europe, Redwire Europe, SES, and Spire Global Luxembourg.

The economy minister was also present at a press conference presenting “Orbital Venture”, the capital fund based in the grand duchy and in which the government has invested. The fund, which has €120m at its , having recently allocated €11m to transport chains optimisation company Wakeo.

Fayot’s visit at the IAC was concluded with bilateral talks with UAE minister of new technologies and president of the UAE Space Agency, Sarah Bint Yousif Al Amiri. They discussed cooperation between the two countries’ space agencies.
