Whether it is the number of declared vacancies or the number of vacancies still available at the end of the month, whether compared to the previous month or to last year: all indicators are down in April 2023, according to Adem. The number of jobseekers, on the other hand, has increased in one year.

Luxembourg employers reported 2,972 vacancies to the country’s employment agency, Adem, in April 2023. This is 24.5% drop from the previous month and 28.1% less than a year earlier. On 30 April, there were a total of 9,936 vacancies. Again, this figure is down: by 4.1% in one month and by 21.7% in twelve.

Adem had 15,330 jobseekers on 30 April 2023. This is almost as many as in March of the same year (15,332), but 1,061 people more than in April 2022 (+7.4%).

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, however, remains stable at 4.9%. It stood at 4.7% in April 2022.

The number of jobseekers increased for all job vacancy durations, except for those considered “long” (more than 12 months). This category rose for a long time while other categories decreased.

2,138 residents registered with Adem in April 2023. This is 46 more than in April 2022, but 388 fewer than in March 2023. This month’s new registrations include 52 beneficiaries of temporary protection (refugees from Ukraine).
