100% of the metaverses created do not take into account the fact that 99.9% of the population do not understand what they are about. The CEO of Virtual Rangers, Matthieu Bracchetti, is tackling this problem with the support of Post and CFL.

The start-up specialises in virtual and augmented reality and has created a different kind of virtual world.

“You can develop your product for years without realising that when you finally release it, the market will have moved. The pace is hellish. So we made another bet, which is to deliver experiences at a close pace, taking into account what’s going on,” Bracchetti said at a Deloitte event last week.

“You can't enter a metaverse without having a digital wallet and cryptocurrencies. But many people have neither or are not very comfortable with theirs. How many companies have a wallet and cryptocurrencies for this kind of experience? We decided to launch a metaverse where you can come in as you are and get familiar. A metaverse is still a virtual world.”

CFL and Post, first to say banco

Two Luxembourg heavyweights, CFL and Post, have agreed to “follow” the entrepreneur in his new adventure with The Dots. They have agreed to take one of the plots of land, sold at €5,000 for the largest and €1,500 for the smallest, in order to be able to install a “Dot”, a sort of virtual dome that the company can customise as it wishes in order to show the products it sells, display images and videos and even have an avatar capable of answering the questions of strangers who may connect to the universe.

Without saying too much, the two big Luxembourg companies also want to use it to find the digital talent that the country sorely needs.

A handful of institutions, such as the launched this week and Luxinnovation, also have their “Dot” in this metaverse and a number of Luxembourg companies are in the final stages of deciding. “I have installed some tourist corners, but I would like to see how to integrate more of them with the help of the ministry of tourism,” Bracchetti said. When the user approaches this point, they enter a sort of staircase into panoramas of Luxembourg’s highlights.

A metaverse also accessible from the phone

A media corner should be created to promote the local press and another is designed as a food corner. “Restaurants will be able to be represented there, promote their menu and link to their reservation solution.”

Another special feature of this version without NFT, wallet or cryptocurrency is that it can be accessed from a computer--like another Luxembourg project, The Duchy--but also on your phone or on your virtual reality headset. “The effect there is fantastic,” said the Virtual Rangers CEO. “The experience is smooth and easy.”

The Virtual Ranger metaverse at first will only be able to accommodate 100 people at a time, with a few more on the waiting list, “for performance and logistical reasons.”
