Luxembourg’s RTL and the Luxembourg Film Fund have selected five projects to be developed for television that will each receive funding of €40,000.

Thirty-one projects were sent in as a result of three calls for submissions sent out by the national television broadcaster. With a total budget of €200,000, the recipients will be able to develop their programmes.

The selection includes two fiction series: “Am Déiwen Däischteren”, by Eric Lamhène and Rae Lyn Lee, and Plus One by Emile V. Schlesser. A children’s show--3,2,1, Go!--by Laurent Witz was also chosen. With in 2013 won the Oscar for best animated short film with Hublot. Lastly, Frédéric Zeimet’s Marginal and Bernard Michaux’s Lazarus, two thrillers, complete the line-up.

The Film Fund--which distributed public funding to local directors, screenwriters and artists--and RTL sent out the calls for projects in an effort to strengthen their partnership but also to encourage and develop Luxembourg series to be broadcast on the national channel. While different categories were given different constraints--in terms of content and length--all projects selected will “represent the diversity of the Luxembourg society,” as states the original call.

The Film Fund previously provided funding for Luxembourg’s global success show Capitani, with €50,000 provided for the development of the original script, among other larger grants. RTL had also provided funds to the show, which recently aired its second season.
