Devoteam, Composil, Ceratizit, Bil and Restopolis received awards at the second Sustainability Awards, which took place on 3 October. Each winner was singled out for implementing an exemplary practice in favour of sustainable development.

On 3 October 2024, the second edition of the Sustainability Awards, organised by IMS Luxembourg, honoured organisations that are implementing the best sustainable development practices.

A pre-judging panel of 20 independent experts carefully analysed the 36 entries received. After a rigorous pre-selection process, three finalists were chosen in each of the four categories: planet, people, prosperity and sustainability team. Participation was free and open to any organisation based in Luxembourg, whether or not it was a member of IMS Luxembourg, and regardless of its size, status--private, public or voluntary--and sector of activity.

A second jury, made up of eight members, then assessed the 12 finalists on the basis of precise criteria such as “the impact of the practice, the innovative nature of the approach, the exemplary and replicable nature of the initiative, the extent to which the practice has been implemented, how the project is managed, and the extent to which it forms part of a long-term approach.”

Four winners and a jury’s favourite

The winners are:

- In the people category, Devoteam was commended for its “TechforPeople” programme, which supports associations and social entrepreneurs in their digital strategies.

- In the planet category: Composil won over the jury with its “Composil ReUse” programme, a first in Europe for the re-use of carpet tiles.

- In the prosperity category: Ceratizit won for developing a model for calculating and classifying the carbon footprint of its products.

- In the sustainability team category: Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (Bil) stood out for its solid ESG (environment, social and governance) roadmap, which raises awareness of sustainability among the bank’s stakeholders and external parties.

The jury’s favourite was awarded to Restopolis for its project “Food4Future--Towards more sustainable food systems,” which aims to make canteens more sustainable.

“I would like to thank IMS Luxembourg for organising this emblematic event, which is helping to raise public awareness of the importance of this subject,” said prime minister  (CSV). “The planet needs the efforts of every individual and company to meet its environmental and social challenges. That’s why it's crucial to recognise and celebrate those who push boundaries, innovate and inspire. The winners we are honouring today are examples of commitment to a sustainable future by developing or adopting innovative solutions. They remind us that change is possible at every level. I warmly congratulate them.”
