As booster shot invitations are sent out to the vaccinated population, with a large delivery of vaccine doses due to arrive in the coming week, the government has announced it will open a fourth vaccination centre at the Luxembourg Air Rescue warehouse in Findel.

The centre, situated just outside the capital of the grand duchy, will solely be used to administer booster shots. Those with an invitation will, however, have to book an appointment for their second or third doses.

Currently, 77.4% of the population above 12 years old is completely vaccinated. Those with a Pfizer/Biontech or Moderna inoculation will have to wait six months after their second shot for a third dose, while AstraZeneca recipients can receive their booster four months after a full vaccination, and Johnson&Johnson one month.

, the number of active infections was nearing 5,000, the highest it has been all year.

The opening date and hours of the centre will be revealed as the next delivery of vaccines lands in Luxembourg.
