The Filmakademie announced in a press release issued on Monday 12 May the appointment of Fred Neuen as its new president. He succeeds Yann Tonnar, who is stepping down to devote himself to his professional activities.
“I am honoured to accept this position and grateful for the trust placed in me by the members of the academy,” said the new president. “Yann Tonnar’s remarkable work has enabled the academy to become a pillar of the Luxembourg film community. We are grateful for his outstanding contributions over the years.”
This “remarkable work” has enabled the academy to “establish itself as a stable and influential institution within the Luxembourg and international film industry,” the statement said. “His dedication and vision have laid a solid foundation for the organisation's continued growth and success.”
Looking to the future, Neuen emphasised “his desire to continue the achievements of his predecessor whilst expanding the academy’s scope.” His vision includes strengthening the institution’s presence both nationally and internationally, thereby consolidating Luxembourg’s position in the global film landscape.
