From 6 to 12 December, the ministry of health is inviting the population to get tested with antigenic self-tests distributed free of charge in pharmacies.

The almost 270,000 resident households are invited to self-test to prevent the spread of Covid-19. To do so, the government has sent them a letter to exchange at one of the 98 pharmacies in the country for a box of antigenic self-tests. For example, a household with two adults is eligible for five self-tests.

The operation, called “#Lëtzebuergtestsech”, is not aimed at the school sector, where staff and pupils continue to be tested twice a week at school. The entire population is invited to test themselves twice at four-day intervals to help fight the spread of Covid-19, .

In its letter, the government reminds residents that if they test positive, they are obliged to declare it on the health department’s website dedicated to tracing.

After the distribution of masks organised at the beginning of the pandemic and the organisation of large-scale testing between spring 2020 and September 2021, the government is now opting for self-testing for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people.
