The Centre de ressources des technologies et de l’innovation pour le bâtiment (CRTI-B) has a new director: Gilles Christnach. His appointment took effect on 1 January this year.

The board of directors of the Centre de ressources des technologies et de l’innovation pour le bâtiment (CRTI-B) has appointed Gilles Christnach as its new director. He takes over from Moreno Viola, who has been executive director since 2016 and has now become head of the CSR and training unit at the engineering firm Schroeder & Associés.

“I am very enthusiastic about taking up this new challenge and developing the visibility and impact of our institution in the construction sector,” said Gilles Christnach in a Linkedin post. “My ambition is to make the CRTI-B a key, visible and recognised player in Luxembourg’s construction sector. I look forward to working alongside all the economic, institutional and technological players to promote innovation, sustainability and the sharing of knowhow.”

Previously, Christnach founded Betic Ingénieurs-Conseils, which he co-managed for 25 years with David Determe. The engineer is passionate about construction, and has been very committed throughout his career to working for more sustainable construction and innovation.

The CRTI-B is a platform serving players in the construction industry with a view to improving productivity and competitiveness in the sector. This is achieved through technological advice and assistance, training, documentation and technology monitoring, the development of research projects and the organisation of inter-professional meetings. In particular, the CRTI-B is a driving force behind the standardisation of public procurement contracts and electronic cooperation between the players involved (BIM). It is also involved in sustainable construction, distributing a guide to sustainable construction and providing a link with research in this area.
