Starting 16 August people who have not yet been vaccinated but want to get their anti-coronavirus jab can do so without scheduling an appointment at Victor Hugo hall in Limpertsberg.

Vaccination is currently open from the age of 12 although minors are only administered either the Pfizer/Biontech or Moderna vaccine, so-called messenger RNA vaccines.

The health ministry said nearly 180 people got vaccinated at a special event hosted at the Atelier on 11 August, where a vaccination bus allowed drop-ins without appointment. The bus also stopped at the City Sounds concert in Luxembourg City on 12 August where another 142 people got their jab.

The bus first launched at the on 7 and 8 August, where more than 100 people used the opportunity to get vaccinated.

The government on Friday called the bus a “great success”, saying it would make drop-ins available at the Limpertsberg venue earlier than announced as a result.

Health minister Paulette Lenert (LSAP) at a on 11 August had announced that Victor Hugo hall would welcome people without appointment from 30 August. This date has now been pulled up.

The centre is open from 7am to 7pm from 16 to 21 August. Opening hours will be shorter starting 23 August.

The vaccination bus will also continue its tour through Luxembourg with the next stop at the Remich street food festival on 14 August. Upcoming stops are posted on the health authority’s as well as the government’s .

“Every dose counts,” Lenert said during the press conference on 11 August. Just over two thirds of eligible residents are fully vaccinated, the ministry said this week. However, around a quarter of the population aged 12 or over are yet to receive a vaccine dose.
