The project, titled Health And Lifescience Innovation (HE:AL) Campus is backed by private investors and is scheduled to open in 2024. It will be granted building rights by the intercommunal union for regional activities (ZARE). Encompassing 2.4 hectares, the campus will be situated between the House of BioHealth (HoBH), Südspidol and the Cité des sciences de Belval.
Finance minister Franz Fayot (LSAP) announced the creation of the health tech campus which will aim to attract companies active in the field of medical devices, invitro, diagnostic devices and digital health tools and services. Consulting in the field of health technologies and R&D will also be among the topics of interest for the project.
“Following the proven success of the House of BioHealth, the future HE:AL Campus will complete the existing reception and accommodation infrastructures in this field and will thus further contribute to the development of the health sciences and technologies sector in Luxembourg,” said Fayot.
Luxembourg’s health technology sector is comprised of 136 companies of which all are less than 10 years old. Nearly 1,900 people are currently employed in those companies.
The HE:AL campus will operate in phygital mode, combining physical and digital tools to improve operability and encourage networking.
Fayot and a delegation of the economy ministry visited the Siemens Healthineers Experience Centre which specialises in the use of digital, artificial intelligence and data in healthcare. The finance minister’s visit was intended to identify potential avenues of collaboration between the company and the Luxembourg health technology ecosystem.
