The DGNB certification body is well known in the world of professional real estate, as it is certainly the most widespread certification. So, quite logically, Post Luxembourg wanted to have its new (in 2022) Helix headquarters on Place de la Gare in Luxembourg certified.
The design team, led by Metaform architects, had initially envisaged Platinum certification, the highest level obtainable through the “classic” route. This level was validated, confirming the building’s qualities of sustainability and innovation. However, following a visit by DGNB auditors, the members of the jury unanimously decided to award Diamond certification in addition to Platinum certification. Diamond certification is only awarded on the basis of a decision by the jury of auditors, who, in addition to other qualities, recognise excellence in architecture and building culture.
To date, 21 buildings have been awarded this level of certification, and all are located in Germany. Helix is therefore the 22nd project to join this circle of exceptional buildings, and the first outside Germany--the country of origin of the certification.
For Post, this is the third building to be DGNB-certified, after the Editus building in Kayl and the Mercier building in Luxembourg.
