The Luxembourg Ladies Tennis Masters, which will run from 19 to 23 October, has revealed that Swiss player Martina Hingis, as well as German native Julia Görges and Slovakian player Daniela Hantuchova will participate in the event.

After the end of the WTA Luxembourg tournament--which lasted twenty years--was announced last year, this new competition is set to bring together recently retired high profile female tennis players at the Coque sports centre in Kirchberg. The Luxembourg government has positioned itself as the competition’s title sponsor.

The event is an invitational tournament with two top ranking 1 players, 2 top ranking 10 and 4 top 50 ranking players, promises. Sponsored by Socom, BGL BNP Paribas, Cocottes and the Coque complex, the competition grants the champion €40,000. The finalist will receive €20,000, while semi-finalists win €10,000 and quarter-finals get €5,000.

Hingis, who retired in 2017, was the first Swiss national to win a Grand Slam, and remained on the 1st spot of the singles world rank for 209 weeks. She has throughout her career gathered 42 singles WTA titles, and 64 doubles titles. Hantuchova attained her best WTA ranking in 2003, securing the 5th rank, while Görges in 2018 landed on the 9th place of the ranking.

Tickets for the event are already available online, with a four-day pass priced at €100.
