Sony’s current chief operating officer, chief financial officer and president, Hiroki Totoki will take up the post of CEO on 1 April 2025. The 60-year-old will succeed Kenichiro Yoshida in this position. Yoshida will remain chairman of the board.
“At our corporate strategy meeting in May of last year, we newly announced our creative entertainment vision, which outlines where we want Sony to be in 10 years, with our purpose as the guiding principle,” said Hiroki Totoki in a . “Together with our employees, creators, partners, and our new leadership team, I will work to create a bright future filled with a boundless sense of Kando (emotion)."
Kando, derived from a word meaning “emotional involvement” or “deep impression,” is now the common thread running through the Japanese giant, which defines it as “the pleasure of creativity as well as the feelings that arise from the tools that make creation a pleasure.”
The two men have made a major contribution to Sony’s revenue growth, particularly by focusing on entertainment. Between July and September 2024, the group’s turnover reached €6.5bn.
More generally, Sony has announced forthcoming changes to its management structure “to clarify management roles according to their responsibilities for the management of the entire group or of each business,” the statement said. The group plans to appoint the heads of each division as managing directors. Hideaki Nishino has been appointed president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
