Although it’s been open for more than 15 years, a recent revamp of the décor has given this renowned restaurant in Niederanven a Tuscan winter garden ambience. While the walls feature Italy’s most magical landscapes, the homely, rustic furnishings create the ideal environment for family dining and large gatherings.
The same all-round experience awaits upstairs, where the dining room — available for private functions — leads out onto one of the Osteria's finest features: the leafy setting of the pergola-covered terrace. On sunny days, the rooftop is a popular spot for catching some rays, open-air café style.
The menu offers the all the classics to delight food enthusiasts and lovers of Italian cuisine. Alongside Chef Martins Cabral Salazar’s recommendations, house grills and pizzas, the must-try dishes are spaghetti al cartoccio, parmigiana di melanzane and osso bucco alla milanese.
For lunch, we opted for bouncy foccacia mista with crushed tomatoes, followed by linguini alle vongole veraci, both painstakingly prepared by the chef. The delightful taste experience was enhanced by a fine wine cellar showcasing the best of the region's grape varieties, as well as wines from other parts of the world. Before leaving this little corner of Italy, we gave into temptation with the tiramisu della casa all'amaretto— fluffy, lively and a heavenly surprise!
