The old town

The area surrounding the grand ducal palace is packed with hotspots from the trendy chic of Bazaar and Go Ten to the relaxed international vibe of Konrad and Urban, from the hip and happening Steiler and music venue De Gudde Wëllen, to craft beers and sports specialist The Tube and not forgetting wine bar Dipso. On a summer night, during non-covid restrictions, this area is a great place to bar hop and meet friends old and new.

Grund

Head down in the lift and you get a choice of bars starting with Up Down next to the tunnel, young people’s hangout Scott’s and Karaoke hotspot Oscar’s across the bridge, quaint wine bar Vins Fins and the classic old-time sing-a-long Café des Artistes.

Bonnevoie

This neighbourhood is one of the most diverse and lively in the capital city. The Buvette at Rotondes is a great venue to hang out, especially in the summer on its enormous terrace, to hear cool music. If you are a beer fan, then Craft Corner has a fabulous range of specials on draught, and the cosy, unpretentious Bouneweger Stuff is another nice place to relax.

Gare

From trendy cocktail spot Paname and cool hangout Metropolitan on opposite sides of the Place de Paris, to snooker-pool-darts bar Oscar’s Diner and down to Ground and the other bars near premier music venue den Atelier, the Gare district is worth checking out.

Rives de Clausen

A former brewery converted into a complex of bars and restaurants, the Rives attracts everything from the after-work crowd to fine diners and wild party-goers at the weekend.

Esch-sur-Alzette

The nightlife scene in Luxembourg’s second city is spread far and wide, from the cool ambience of the Kulturfabrik venue to the cosy minimalism of the Escher Café and the evergreen Pitcher to the more ready-made bars in and around the Esch-Belval mall next to concert venue Rockhal.
