Peter Vandekerckhove succeeds Peter Adams, CEO of ING Belgium, as chair of the board of directors of ING Luxembourg and non-executive independent director, the bank revealed on 18 January.

Currently a member of the board at Beaulieu International Group, Capital at Work Group and Unibreda, saw his nomination approved by local supervisory authorities. “I am very happy to join the board of ING in Luxembourg, an important link in the ING Group and a real player on the Luxembourg scene. I will do everything I can to help the bank, the management and the teams to attain their goal to serve the clients well,” Vandekerckhove said  issued by the bank on 18 January.

The Belgian national has a long career in the banking sector, becoming managing director of Pierson, Heldring & Pierson Belgium in 1992 before eventually becoming CEO of the group. Following the acquisition of MeesPierson by Fortis in 1996, he joined the Executive Committee of Fortis Private Banking as CEO, Fortis Retail Banking Belgium.

In 2011, he was appointed board member of AG Insurance and BNPParibas Asset Management. In 2018, Vandekerckhove (now Quintet) in Luxembourg.

ING Luxembourg CEO Michael Burch commented on the nomination, stating that “Peter brings extensive board experience in Europe and Asia in the areas of banking and asset management. His national and international network will be of great benefit for ING in Luxembourg. I look forward to working together!”
