A beautiful contemporary room in the middle of the village, a terrace that smells of the countryside, well-chosen meat from the Kirsch butcher and a new chef who knows how to find the right flavour... What? You have never been to the Aal Schoul restaurant in Hobscheid?

It's not really a scoop: the Steinfort region is a bit like the second gastronomic capital of Luxembourg, with well-kept establishments that give pride of place to local products. This is exactly the case with the restaurant Aal Schoul, located in an elegant building in the centre of Hobscheid.

In the middle of the small town, the restaurant looks great, in a setting that combines local heritage and contemporary architecture, that contrasts with the environment without spoiling it and that benefits from a pretty double terrace. People know each other, they say hello from a distance, tractors pass by nonchalantly... We are in the countryside! And who says countryside says cows, and who says cows says good butcher's meat, especially when Mr Kirsch is at the helm...

The menu at Aal Schoul includes some fine cuts of meat: entrecote, filet pur, tagliata, flambéed chateaubriand cut up in the dining room and an exceptional Tomahawk... But the new chef Sonetra "Sony" Uon seems to have quickly found his feet, both in the kitchen and on the menu, with some rather new combinations for the address.

For example, the starter is a "cannelloni of pink prawns, grilled langoustine, celeriac, sea urchin tongue cream, chive oil" (28€), well executed and beautifully presented, with a sea urchin condiment particularly dense in flavour and umami... Then we go on with a sweetbread-poultry combo, accompanied by a fresh and tasty onion and bean tatin, or a "roasted lamb chop and saddle in a pistachio crust, vegetable ratatouille, citrus quinoa, green curry sauce" (34€), which are also really successful. The whole thing is washed down with a pinot noir Clos Mon Vieux Moulin from Duhr Frères, a partner of the establishment, and it's more than done...

Aal Schoul still offers its "schoolboy's menu" at €55 for 3 courses and its "schoolmaster's menu" at €67 for 4 courses, from Wednesday to Sunday (lunch and dinner), as well as its lunchtime formula, from Wednesday to Saturday, at €18, for starter and main course.
