Funds can be tokenised and assets digitised, but the security of the custody of the securities must be ensured. Luxembourg fintech Investre has announced that it has used the Fireblocks solution.

The investment fund industry is no longer immune to the tokenisation of assets trend. Investre, a Luxembourg-based fintech active in this field, has announced that it is using the security technology solution of Israeli company Fireblocks to secure the management of the custody, transfer and settlement of digital securities.

The technology company works with more than 1,500 financial institutions worldwide, including trading platforms, custodian banks and investment funds. Fireblocks says it has secured the transfer of more than $3 trillion in digital assets.

By integrating Fireblocks' solution, Investre says it intends to capitalise on the growing demand from asset managers to securely tokenise and digitise investment funds, including UCITS (Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities).

Securing the tokenisation process

"With our Moniflo app we continue our journey to make value-based investments accessible," said Investre's CEO and founder in 2020, "This means affordable investments and for us, tokenisation is the only way to achieve this. When it comes to blockchain security and key management, we are committed to doing the right thing for investors or our customers and we see Fireblocks' suite of offerings as what we need to make our vision a reality."

Investre says tests are underway and due to be finalised by the end of the year. This should help it pursue its goal of becoming the leading digital custodian of UCITS funds in Europe.
