Retail bank ING Luxembourg on 31 January revealed that it had chosen Isabel Frits to lead its wholesale banking department. Frits also joins the executive committee as a member.

Frits has occupied several leadership positions in different countries during her career at ING, which began in 2005. She previously acted as the head of wholesale banking lending and head of corporate sector lending for Belgium and Luxembourg. As of 19 January 2023 she has replaced Damien Degros, who, after taking up this position in 2014, has left the company.

“With her international experience in Amsterdam, London and New York, her knowledge in Wholesale Banking activities within the ING Group as well as her special expertise of Belgium and Luxembourg, Isabel complements perfectly the rest of our Executive Committee,” said Michael Burch, CEO of ING in Luxembourg, in a press release shared on 31 January.

The statement describes Frits as “an excellent fit for the role” in light of her varied experience. The newly named head of wholesale banking lending in response to her appointment said that she looks “forward to accompanying our clients and our people in their projects and ambitions, putting sustainability at the heart of what we will be doing together!”
