Luxembourg’s Chamber of Commerce and national innovation agency Luxinnovation signed two memoranda of cooperation with Japan External Trade Organisation Jetro, aimed at facilitating business collaboration.

Japan and the grand duchy have teamed up to improve business and investment opportunities for Japanese companies in Luxembourg and vice versa. The goal of the two memoranda of cooperation is to establish a cooperative framework for information exchange, the co-organisation of events, joint support to companies in both countries, and cooperation in public relations and cross-border activities.

“Luxembourg’s industrial ecosystems have a reputation for being at the forefront of Europe’s innovation. I am confident that these MoCs will contribute to further accelerate the collaboration or innovation between Luxembourg and Japanese businesses,” said Takuya Yamazaki, director general of Jetro Brussels.

One of the memoranda signed by Yamazaki and  of the Chamber of Commerce will focus on helping Luxembourg companies looking to expand in Japan. The second--signed by Yamazaki and , CEO of Luxinnovation--targets Japanese companies wishing to enter the European market.

The two deals were signed in the presence of Japan’s ambassador to Luxembourg, and economy minister (LSAP) who said he hopes “that many collaborations will emerge from this”.

“The signing of this memorandum of cooperation lays a solid foundation for further deepening the excellent economic relations between our two countries,” said Thelen.
