John Lusk has moved up a notch to become CEO of Spire Maritime, the offspring of Spire. Formerly a space startup, the company continues to move forward and structure itself.

“The combination of John’s business acumen and Peter’s [i.e. Peter Mabson, former CEO and newly appointed Chief Strategy Officer] decades of experience in space solutions and the maritime industry is powerful and exactly what we need as we continue to scale and drive innovation in delivering customers actionable maritime data solutions that have a meaningful impact on businesses and the planet,” said Spire CEO Peter Platzer in a press release.

Four years after joining Spire, with over 25 years of experience in driving go-to-market strategies, scaling high-growth products, business development and operations, John Lusk finds himself leading the maritime data organisation.

Peter Mabson, CEO of Spire Maritime since the acquisition of his company exactEarth in 2021, will take over strategy of the startup as its new CSO.

Spire Maritime provides global maritime vessel-tracking data, information and predictive analytics used for highly accurate vessel and supply chain monitoring, vessel safety and route optimisation. It has recently launched new solutions to improve the efficiency and safety of maritime operations, including vessel-to-port ETA, port events and dark shipping detection.
