The boss of Jost Group, a Belgian transport company based in Weiswampach, Roland Jost, is said to have signed a penal accord with the Belgian federal prosecutor's office, L'Echo reported on Tuesday. He has accepted a suspended sentence of three years in prison, without any confiscation or a fine. The court in Liège will have to validate the agreement on 17 October.
This transaction follows another one, approved in January,
Roland Jost was accused of having employed a thousand drivers from Eastern European countries without declaring them to the Belgian social security system. The case has become symbolic of the fight against social dumping in Belgium and has led to several judicial searches, notably in Luxembourg.
Roland Jost is also said to have announced his withdrawal from the operational management of the company, while remaining chairman of the board of directors.
The Jost group says it has 2,800 employees in 10 countries, 1,500 trucks and a turnover of more than €350m.
