An affordable housing project by the Fonds Kirchberg was awarded to construction company Tracol Immobilier and architecture firm Beng which will see the construction of a sustainable residency building with 29 housing units.

The Fonds Kirchberg initiated the project with regard to the difficult housing situation in Luxembourg and will impose a fixed price of sale to the property developer. The calculation of that price is in line with low-cost housing regulations as defined by the law and by the affordable housing framework set up by the Fonds Kirchberg.

The 3,742m2 of space will be transformed into a residency building, which will contribute to the expansion of the development plan for Kirchberg’s new neighborhood Reimerwee East neighbourhood. Situated on Boulevard Konrad Adenauer, the building will include private and shared gardens which are intended to favour social contact between the residents.

Tracol Immobilier and Beng envision the construction of a hybrid wood-concrete building with low energy consumption with various sustainable features. A rainwater collection installation on the roofs will allow for the irrigation of the private gardens with the collected water which will also be used for the bathrooms and laundry rooms. While some elements of the building will be able to be taken apart in order to potentially be reused.

The residential units will be up for sale in 2023 and the building is scheduled to be finished in 2025.
