After skipping the annual reveal in-person last year due to the pandemic, La Liste announced its selection of the top 1,000 restaurants in the world in grand style. Here are the five restaurants based in Luxembourg that made it to the list of the world’s best.

Identifying la crème de la crème in the world of gastronomic pleasures requires precision. The best 1,000 restaurants are chosen based on a compilation of hundreds of guidebooks, thousands of media publications, and millions of online reviews. The special award ceremony held on 29 November in Paris recognised outstanding chefs, restaurants, and regions across the world. This year, five Luxembourg restaurants made it to La Liste’s top 1,000.

Luxembourg restaurants in the top 1,000

Ma langue sourit – The restaurant with two Michelin stars that represents excellence is located at Moutfort in Luxembourg. The restaurant has the highest score for the grand duchy with a 91% score. “For us, it's really great, because it gives more visibility to the restaurant, especially in the La liste application, and there are also a lot of famous restaurants in this list,” says the restaurant owner and executive chef Cyril Molard.

Mosconi – The Italian restaurant, which dates to 1986 and owned by the couple Illario et Simonetta Mosconi, bagged a score of 85.5%. The restaurant was recently commissioned by the Italian ambassador to Luxembourg to create the first gastronomic recipe for astronauts in space within the confines of the Artemis space mission.

Clairefontaine – Located just a stone’s throw from the Grand Ducal palace, the French restaurant owned by the couple Arnaud and Edwige Magnier made it to the world’s best ranking with a score of 81.5%.

La Distillerie – Just a few months after bagging the title of the best vegetable restaurant in the world, two times in a row, the restaurant has reinforced its leading reputation by adding another title as one of the top best globally with a score of 80.5%. The restaurant is led by executive chef Rene Mathieu.

Lea Linster – The French restaurant in Frisange is owned by the Linster family and led by Louis Linster, the 2021 young chef of the year according to Gault and Millau restaurant guide. With a score of 79%, the restaurant now features among the best 1000 in the world.
